What to Expect from Rain Barrel Sales 2019?

It's rain barrel season for Green Calgary again, and we have so much going on at the rain barrel sites other than just rain barrels! So what can you expect from the sales dates?

Bag Share: The Bag Share is back! With such a huge success of the program last year, we're repeating it this year. We'll be collecting your extra reusable bags on site at each Rain Barrel Sale and redistributing them to others! We thank everyone for their donations!

Activities: At each of our Rain Barrel Sales we will have activities on site for children and youth to get involved and learn about sustainability. They can participate in Environmental Jeopardy, Spin the Enviro Wheel, and much more!

Rain Barrel Repair: We will have Dirk Struck, the Barrelman himself, onsite to repair your rain barrels. Bring old barrels down with you to get repaired. It's $15 per outlet repaired and Dirk takes cash. Thanks!

Partners: Each site will have some of our community partners on-hand to provide their own activities and education.

Rain Barrels: The main event itself, we'll have rain barrels and rain barrel education on site to help you learn if a rain barrel is right for you and take one home. Rain barrels are $65+GST for the whole kit and we have other items, too, such as composters (on sale for $45+GST) and compost.

You can come find us on site to enjoy all of these great activities and more! The site dates and locations are:

  • April 27: IKEA, 8000 11th St. SE
  • May 25: Vivo for Healthier Generations, 11950 Country Village Link NE
  • June 8: Genesis Centre, #10-7555 Falconridge Blvd. NE
  • June 22: Westbrook Mall, 1200 37th St. SW

It's also Earth Month, so if you would like to get your office to book a Lunch and Learn with us, you can check out the topics here: https://www.greencalgary.org/Lunch-and-Learns

Also, our AGM is coming up May 8th and we're going to be screening the documentary "The Canoe" by Goh Iromoto. You can come out, join us for some activities, a raffle, and some snacks, and then watch the documentary. It's free and you can sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/documentary-screening-and-annual-general-meeting-tickets-59788977441
